We assisted in the conduct of foot patrol along Session Road led by BCPO Station 7 Commander PMAJ ROGER KURT L PACIFICAR, BCPO SWAT Unit Platoon Leader PLT JUN P TAD-O, and BCPO COMPAC 3 Commander PLT BAYAN to ensure the peaceful flow of the display of art activity happening in said area.
This kind of policing that is being observed in any police offices or stations is a proactive approach aimed at resolving issues before they become crimes, which reduces the fear of crime and promotes citizens' sense of control over their community. As we all know police visibility fosters a sense of security among people, a sense of assurance that police officers are prepared to act when necessary in any circumstance, and a sense of fear among potential violators.
The possibility that residents will feel safe in their neighborhood and be inclined to engage in productive discourse with police increases with the visibility of police in a community. Additionally, it promoted the growth of community and police trust and respect.
Visible police patrol which involves officers patrolling places regardless of the crime rate has been shown to have a crime reduction effect especially if it is targeted in small geographic locations or hot spots where crime is concentrated. Foot patrol improved public confidence in the police, perceptions of crime, and feelings of safety as well as reducing crime. The visible presence of officers patrolling on foot may also act as a control signal which would be a sign that the authorities are taking the problems of the people seriously. We assisted the station commander of our station in his conduct of foot patrol around the station’s area of responsibility specifically along Session Road to ensure the peaceful flow of the display of art activity happening in said area. I have learned that the station commander's function as the general manager of the station includes inspecting his area of accountability for any potential issues to develop solutions and maintain a vigilant watch over any potential threats.at the same time assess the efficiency with which his men are carrying out their tasks as well as make sure that all personnel is receiving proper guidance necessary for effective performance. With this, the commander develops a good working relationship with his superiors and subordinates which made him ensure that any problems are properly addressed and resolved. The station commander's responsibility extends beyond himself and his men; he must always be aware of potential hazards and take precautions to ensure the safety of his men. He is expected to lead by example, manage their work, and guarantee that all tasks are completed on time. A commander who makes poor decisions or refuses to act when necessary is failing his men.
