We attended a Basics of Investigation lecture given by BCPO personnel, which focused on the principles of investigation and the best practices used in the unit in concern. Knowing the basics of investigation is crucial for the Baguio City police office investigation unit. The Baguio City Police Office Investigation Unit is responsible for conducting investigations into criminal cases within the city. To be effective and efficient, the unit must employ best practices in its investigations.
One of the best practices employed in police investigation is thorough documentation. This entails maintaining precise records of all interviews, the evidence gathered, and other pertinent data. This helps to ensure that all relevant information is captured and preserved for later use in court.
The application of technology to investigations is another effective practice. In addition to using surveillance cameras and other monitoring tools, this also entails the use of sophisticated forensics procedures like DNA analysis. By streamlining investigations, technology makes it simpler to quickly gather and analyze evidence. Another best practice that is frequently used in police investigations is the employment of expert witnesses.
